Green Dreamers will meet at the Firehall Saturday, July 21st, 8:30 - 10:30 a.m. We will have the help of 12 young volunteers (14-18 years) from Canada's CISV (Children's International Summer Villages). These young volunteers are travelling across Canada in a Peace Bus and volunteer their time in the different communities where they stop.
Ottawa is one of their destination points. Kelly Campbell, an OSCA Board Member, is hosting the travellers. And on Saturday morning these young volunteers will show up at the Firehall to help us weed, mulch, and plant. After the Firehall they will likely visit the vegetable garden on Riverdale Avenue, created by Green Dreamer Brian Ure and Krysia Pazdzior (the benefactress of so many of our perennial plants).
We're hoping to have enough Green Dreamers assist and oversee the CISV volunteers. Four of the Green Dreamers have already walked around the Firehall grounds and we think we can easily divide the gardens into three or four sections. Imagine the difference so many helping hands can make!
If you have not been able to devote time to the Green Dreamers this season, please do not hesitate to show up for this event. It is meant to be fun and free-flowing.
Perhaps you or your family are interested in meeting the young adults travelling on the Peace Bus. Bring your family. Check out the Peace Bus online at: www.facebook.com/PeaceBus.
The Firehall will be serving refreshments and a light snack.
