Hopewell Avenue Public School’s Parent Council is excited to be hosting the annual “Anything on Wheels Consignment Sale”, in partnership with Glebe Collegiate Institute!
On the evening of October 26, 2017, Hopewell Avenue Public School’s Parent Council organized a parent information session on substance use, addiction, and gaming. Andrew Mendes from Rideauwood Addiction & Family Services gave an excellent presentation to about 50 parents that focused on how to talk about and deal with substance use among elementary school aged children as well as teenagers.

The first school on the present Hopewell Avenue Public School site dates back to the 1830s or 1840s. It was a one-room log building with a few windows, a small door, and a wood stove. By the end of the 1870s, this was replaced by a brick building with semi-circular arched windows and doors, as well buff-colored brick at the corners to give the impression of rusticated stone. This newer building had two small classrooms and was heated by stoves connected by long pipes that ended at the building’s chimney.
The talented students of Hopewell Elementary School share their music on February 22, 2017 at Southminster Church, featuring the Junior and Senior Concert Band & the Hopewell Jazz Band, with Marya Woyiwada, director. Freewill offerings for this noontime concert are accepted to help ensure the continuation of this great concert series.
