Help Boost Donations

As one of twenty three longtime member churches of the Centretown Churches Social Action Committee, Southminster United Church provides ongoing donations of food and money to the Centretown Emergency Food Centre.

If you attend the Wednesday noon concerts at Southminster, please bring along an item of food to place in the collection boxes for the Food Centre. Each month some 900 individuals, including many families with children, benefit from a 3-day supply of food from the Centre. The volunteers who staff the Food Centre would suggest any item on the following list: canned tuna, salmon, meat and stews, canned vegetables, canned soups, canned beans, cereals, dry pasta, pasta sauce, or Kraft dinner.

Inside the two main entrances to the church are two large wooden boxes collecting food and sundries for the Food Centre. As donations of food from churches declined during the summer we would like to give the Centre a boost in the month of October by requesting donations from concert attenders.

On October 15, 2017, Rev. Trisha Elliott and members of Southminster will be part of the Southminster Team in the Walk for the Centre fundraiser for the Emergency Food Centre. Come out and join them or support the Southminster Team with a donation. Donate online or stop by the Southminster Church Office from 8:00 am - 12:30 pm & 1:30 - 4:00 pm, Tuesday–Friday.
