Recently, the world lost one of the most beautiful soprano voice when Montserrat Caballé passed away. Her voice was noted for its purity and power, precise control of vocal shadings and exquisite pianissimos. She is best known for singing the works of Verdi, Puccini and composers from the bel canto era such as Bellini, Donizetti and Rossini.

Classical Music, Lord of the Rings, and Star Wars: The Ottawa Guitar Trio

The October concert of the Music at Trinity concert series features the Ottawa Guitar Trio comprised of Nathan Bredeson, François Lacelle, and Alexandre Bougie. They are preparing a wonderful program of classical music gems and music composed for some of our favorite movies, in a guitar trio setting. Since, for the most part, the music they will perform was not originally composed for three guitars, one had to arrange the music and adapt it to this new medium. For most of the program, the music was arranged by the members the trio themselves and one can appreciate the level of artistry it takes for someone to arrange a score conceived in some cases for a full orchestra to a smaller setting such as a guitar trio.

Inner Voice: Exploring Women’s Voice and Identity through Music

On the heels of the International Women’s Day, Music at Trinity presents a concert entitled Inner Voice: Exploring Women’s Voice and Identity through Music. The program features two important works of the English composer and violist Rebecca Clarke (1886-1979), Morpheus and her Sonata for viola and piano along with Johannes Brahms’ (1833-1897) Zwei Gesänge op.91 for mezzo-soprano, viola and piano. Violist Kathryn Cobbler, along with mezzo-soprano Heather-Lynn Smith and pianist Sonya Sweeney will perform this lovely program on March 10, 2018 at 4:30pm.

Music at Trinity Concert Series Opener

On September 16 2017, the Music at Trinity concert series launches its third season. We are thrilled to have Emily Shaw and Craig Visser for 2017-2018 Music at Trinity opening concert. These two well established artists in Ottawa will perform a wonderful and varied programme for two guitars. It will include easily recognizable tunes and will also offer the opportunity to hear some of Mr. Visser’s own compositions.

A Recital to Mark the Anniversary of Trinity Anglican Church’s Organ

For the last concert of the 2016-2017 Music at Trinity concert series on Saturday, June 17, 2017, I have decided to feature Trinity’s Casavant organ, to mark the instrument’s anniversary of dedication. I will perform an organ recital with a carefully chosen programme that will explore the wonderful colors this lovely instrument has to offer.
