It's that time of year when Green Dreamers shift into "vacation" mode and when gardening becomes a little lighter, more vicarious, and a little less frequent.
Wednesdays and Saturdays are our usual gardening days but from now until mid- or late-August, you as Green Dreamers are free to call your own working "bees." Please use this list serve to ask if fellow gardeners are free to help. A number of you are already informally gathering on days other than Wednesday & Saturday, so don't hesitate to organize your own pet projects, whether it's cleaning-up at Riverdale & Bank, watering at the library, or weeding at Glen.
In the meantime, please send us lists of the plants that you are thinning/separating and would like to transplant into OOS's public gardens. We have already had some emails about plants available to the Green Dreamers and we will share this list with you in late August or early September. Maybe your neighbours are planning a new landscape design for the Fall and would like to donate what they no longer need or perhaps some gardeners (like myself) have been keeping possible transplants close to home waiting for more agreeable planting conditions. We welcome the opportunity come September to add to what is already planted (more hosta, sedum, day lilies, sage, daisies, etc.) and to introduce new possibilities.
Have a great summer vacation fellow Green Dreamers! Please feel free to contact the Green Dreamers to organize independent "beautifying" efforts or email Brian Ure if you have any questions. Brian will be happy to answer any questions you might have.
Again, thank you for your support and great ideas. And please feel free to take pictures and share with the rest of us!
