We have taken the liberty of ordering 450 "Canada 150" tulip bulbs. We are expecting their arrival some time this week. We have also received donations of 75 Canada 150 bulbs for the library and 225 daffodil bulbs for wherever it pleases us. Of the 500 or so NCC bulbs gathered last spring, we estimate that 235 are likely candidates for planting (the remaining 250 or so are rather small and "iffy"). All in all, we have 985 bulbs to plant!
To date, we are aiming for a planting "blitz" the week of October 10th, after Thanksgiving weekend:
Wednesday, October 12, 2016 8:30 - 10:30 a.m.
Saturday, October 15, 2016 8:30 - 10:30 a.m.
And if there are enough of us in town, we can also organize a planting one morning, the week before Thanksgiving: Wednesday, October 5, 2016 8:30 - 10:30 a.m.
Let us know what works for all of you. Also, we are interested in your choices as to where we might plant. On the list is: Sunnyside Branch Library, garden beds at Sunnyside & Bank, garden bed on Sunnyside close to Hopewell School, the Firehall, Glen, Grove, Ossington, Cameron. The corner of Riverdale & Bank remains a question mark, but something might evolve as we plant :-)
More on the pot luck later in the season!
