Old Ottawa South's Green Dreamers will begin the 2017 gardening season on Earth Day, April 22nd. Update: Postponed due to rain until Wednesday, April 26, 2017.
We will meet at the Firehall from 8:30 - 10:30 a.m.
As usual we will quickly review what we hope to accomplish Saturday morning and spread out beyond the Firehall should we have enough gardeners to cover more than one site. Our initial focus will likely be an early spring cleanup and perhaps a walkabout to determine the general condition of the beds we worked on last season.
So, please bring your rakes and trowels, clippers and paper bags, and, yes, some plastic bags for some of the winter waste that has gathered in our garden beds.
Our tulips are already on the rise and in many locations we will likely have to give some thought to protecting them friendly footsteps. If you have some stakes or makeshift fencing drop us a line or bring them with you. Sometimes all it takes is some bamboo or small wooden stakes with string. Glance around your gardening areas as you walk around the neighbourhood this week. Your suggestions as to how we might protect what we planted last season and what might be needed Saturday will be helpful.
In a very short time the tulips and daffodils will be blooming!!!
See you Saturday, April 22, 2017 8:30 - 10:30 a.m. at the Firehall.
