As many of you know, OSCA will not be offering an after school program to children in JK/SK under the age of 6 as of September 2017. This is a result of changes to the Child Care and Early Years Act, 2014 (CCEYA) which require recreational service providers, such as OSCA, to become licensed child care providers in order to offer after school programming to children under the age of 6 (that is, children in JK/SK). Following an internal assessment of the feasibility of this option for the community, we decided not to pursue licensing at this time.
However, we will be able to continue to offer programming to children in JK/SK in the following areas:
- Summer Camps
- Breakfast Club (Monday - Friday, September to June from 7:30 AM - 9:00 AM)
- PD Days
- Christmas Break and March Break Camps
*NEW* Flexible Programs for Kids
As well, we are excited to announce that we will be introducing new programs for all age groups, including JK-SK children, this September. These will be specialised enrichment programs and may include Science, Dance, Gymnastics, 'Young Crafters', Yoga, 'Mix n Match', 'Chef's Corner', 'Young Entrepreneurs', 'Sports of All Kinds', (and more!).
Programs will run once per week, begin at 4pm and last for one hour. Programs will include pick up from Hopewell School with walkover to Southminster Church. Extended services including a snack and other activities either before or after their one hour class will also be offered. Important note: Programs will only take place once each week for one hour and are not a replacement for After School Programs. Please check our Facebook page and website throughout the summer for more information.
