The work We Do

OSCA strives to improve quality of life in the community in a variety of ways, including but not limited to:

  • offering social events to strengthen community bonds and help neighbours get to know each other
  • providing educational, sports, fitness, and recreational programming to the community, including the enriching after-school programs that are so important for working parents
  • ensuring we create a safe and inclusive environment for ALL, to express their creativity and pursue their passion through our programs for a wide variety of age groups.
  • working actively to promote and protect the interests of the community with regard to planning and future development in and around OOS
  • ensuring that the community’s interests are effectively communicated to the public, City of Ottawa, and other governments and agencies whose activities may affect OOS
  • keeping the community informed about activities and opportunities of interest to the community
  • initiating new programs and policies from time to time to benefit the community

How we work

OSCA operates from the Ottawa South Community Centre, aka the The Firehall, at 260 Sunnyside Avenue, where it holds most of its programs, various community and committee meetings, monthly Board meetings, and the Annual General Meeting (AGM).

A board of volunteers from the community manage OSCA — the OSCA Board of Directors and Executive. OSCA has a variety of committees made up of interested OOS residents and Board members who use their skills to build and strengthen our community.

Our programming and events are open to ALL individuals, regardless of where you reside. We are dedicated to creating exceptional experiences for every client and community member while fostering a judgement-free and inclusive environment. We believe that everyone deserves a place at OSCA, and we actively embrace diverse perspectives, backgrounds and needs. Together, we are building a welcoming community where each person feels valued and empowered to participate.
