Southminster Church Heritage Designation
On January 24, 2024, Ottawa City Council approved the heritage designation of Southminster United Church at 1040 Bank Street. More designations will come forward this year due to changes to the Ontario Heritage Act. Staff have been identifying properties across all wards that are strong candidates for designation under Part IV of the Act. Reflections of My Ottawa
I was born in Old Ottawa South in 1936 and lived in a house at the corner of Riverdale and Sunnyside. I was the second youngest in a family of three boys and three girls. Shortly after my birth we moved to Rosedale Avenue, still in Old Ottawa South. It was a small street, which ran between Sunnyside Avenue and the Driveway.
