Lansdowne Redevelopment: OSCA urges Council to reject proposal

OSCA’s President, Richard Slowikowski, has written to the Mayor and all City Councillors, urging them to vote against the current proposal for the redevelopment of Lansdowne Park, known as “Lansdowne 2.0.“ We believe the proposal does not merit approval for two sets of reasons, one related to its financial implications, and the other related to its effect on the neighbourhood, notably the lack of transit. The full text of the letter is provided. If…

Lansdowne 2.0: Your chance to be heard 11 October 7pm Horticulture Building

On 10 November 2023 City Council will decide whether to approve the current proposal for the redevelopment of Lansdowne Park, “Lansdowne 2.0“. Many neighbourhood residents, and your community association, OSCA, have grave doubts about this proposal, involving the construction of 40-storey skyscrapers, the loss of public space, and the implications for traffic and liveability. In addition, the proposal appears fiscally imprudent, especially given the lack of transparency around the finances of the last redevelopment….

Reprieve for the Post Office

Reprieve for the Post Office

Old Ottawa South residents will be relieved to learn that the Post Office located in the Quickie Convenience Store will remain where it is, at least for the foreseeable future. OSCA has received a letter to this effect from Canada Post, which is reproduced below. All this means that there is no threat to an essential public service in the neighbourhood, though it is also reassuring to note that Canada Post already had contingency plans in place to retain a postal outlet across the street.
