Dear members of our community,
In times of uncertainty, it is easy to separate ourselves. While the trail of division has not always been a clear-cut path, it should be the road less travelled. It is vital that we open the lines of communication and listen to one another. Now more than ever, education and compassion should be the means to reaching an understanding.
As a community, it is critical to echo and support those voices that have not always been heard. While we strive to bring awareness of inclusion and diversity to our community during difficult times, it is just as important to support each other beyond these challenging moments.
Although our directive is to promote Inclusion, Diversity, Equity, and Accessibility for specific members of our community, we unequivocally support everyone. However, it is crucial to understand that providing a voice for marginalized groups does not mean the silencing of others. We are here simply to gain knowledge, listen, learn, engage and advocate for equality regardless of your age, race, gender, sex, culture, and/or religion.
With that in mind, respect and tolerance are key components of our conversation, and reciprocation is expected at all times. If there is ever any confusion and/or inquiry of our message or mandate, please do not hesitate to reach out. We are always available and open to dialogue as long as we continually remain civil, respectful, and mindful.
Sincerely,
The Committee of Inclusion, Diversity, Equity, and Accessibility (IDEA)
