Are you starting to feel bored? If you check out the links below, you'll find out how some of the Firehall staff are keeping busy in their spare time at home. We will update this periodically as we find new, fun things to do! We hope you enjoy. Please note these are suggestions for adults. We have some activity ideas to do with your children here.
Children are curious and will ask questions about COVID-19. This is understandable given that they are hearing about it everywhere they turn. Some of them are afraid of the current situation and others just want to better understand what is happening around them.
In order to put children at ease when asked about COVID-19, these are some steps and tips you could use that can aid in the conversation (Adapted from recommendations by the CBC, Unicef, Kids Health, and the CDC).
Need some ideas while you're at home for the next couple of weeks? The Firehall team will post some activity ideas every couple of days for parents to download. Our ideas will pop up in PDF form. The links should be live so you can go directly to some of the pages we use.
As a result of the recent announcement that City facilities will be closed and following the recommendations made by the City of Ottawa, Ottawa Public Health, and Federal government agencies, we have made the difficult choice to cancel all OSCA programming; this includes the Firehall Fitness Centre, the Pottery Studio, Board and Committee public meetings.
As the Coronavirus outbreak evolves in Ottawa, we at OSCA are closely monitoring the situation with Ottawa Public Health and our partner the City of Ottawa. We take the safety, health and wellbeing of our clients, staff and volunteers, very seriously and we are doing our part to help prevent the spread of COVID-19 in our community and City.
