As the Coronavirus outbreak evolves in Ottawa, we at OSCA are closely monitoring the situation with Ottawa Public Health and our partner the City of Ottawa. We take the safety, health and wellbeing of our clients, staff and volunteers, very seriously and we are doing our part to help prevent the spread of COVID-19 in our community and City.
The 2020 OSCA AGM was held on October 20, 2020—but this year it was an AGM with a difference! Because of the restrictions encountered by COVID-19, an in-person AGM was impossible. The AGM is usually held in May but it was postponed this year in the hopes that the restrictions would be lifted and an in-person meeting would be possible. Finally, OSCA gave in and held the meeting in October.Friday, 23 October 2020 19:07
The Sunnyside Branch of the Ottawa Public Library was scheduled to open in August but due to staffing challenges in the context of COVID-19 the timing of re-opening will be determined at a later date.Saturday, 01 August 2020 13:30
Earlier this week, the Government of Ontario announced that some regions can now transition into Phase 2 of "Reopening Ontario". Eastern Ontario is one of the regions that will enter Phase 2 of reopening on Friday June 12th. This means that in addition to the non-essential stores that were already allowed to open in Phase 1, businesses like personal care services and restaurant patios are now also allowed to open.Thursday, 11 June 2020 10:47
The Firehall is closed. Our March Break camps were cancelled, as well as the remainder of our Winter Session Programs. And with the extension of the closure of all of the City’s recreation centres until at least June 30th, we have now also had to cancel our Spring programs. But as we are sure you know, OSCA’s staff have been as busy as ever these past few weeks.Wednesday, 22 April 2020 21:21
The closure of the Firehall has had a huge impact on all of us and like many, we are all missing the connections that our community space provides. As you have probably seen in the news, the City of Ottawa has announced that all recreation facilities will be closed until at least June 30th, 2020, and this includes the Firehall. One of the consequences of the closure is that we also do not have access to our phone line to answer questions and provide assistance.Wednesday, 22 April 2020 20:21
The world is a different place, but we’re in this together. As I write this (on March 20th) the world has already changed exponentially. I expect it to have changed even more by the time you read this. So perhaps this is better written and read as an historical record.Saturday, 18 April 2020 09:09
As a result of the announcement that City facilities will be closed and following the recommendations made by the City of Ottawa, Ottawa Public Health, and Federal government agencies, we have made the difficult choice to cancel all OSCA programming; this includes the Firehall Fitness Centre, the Pottery Studio, Board and Committee public meetings.Friday, 13 March 2020 15:43
We’re asking the public to assist us in reducing the spread of COVID-19 by doing the following:Friday, 13 March 2020 12:01
The safety, health, and well-being of our clients and staff is a top priority at OSCA. Clients with a sinus infection, cough, and/or fever are asked to refrain from attending programs in order to prevent the spread of colds and flu to others. We ask clients to be diligent in following Ottawa Public Health’s “Guidelines for School and Child Care Facilities on Communicable Diseases and Other Childhood Health Issues” document, which provides recommendations for exclusion due to health issues.Thursday, 05 March 2020 07:59
