Ottawa South Canoe Club 1914
Available are copies of old newspaper clippings about the Canoe club that was in place around 1914 in the Rideau River near Billings Bridge. The Ewart family is mentioned and they lived in what is now the Maycourt. David Ewart was a famous architect in Ottawa as described in the opening letter. They also built a huge house at the n/w corner of Cameron and Grosvenor which burned, pre 1910. The Larose family lived in a beautiful Victorian home which was demolished in the 60’s to build the townhouses on Marco Lane. — Bob Simpson
