New Commemoration along the Rideau River

A new park bench greets visitors to the river alongside Rideau River Drive, between Belmont and Fentiman Avenues, to honour the memory of former Old Ottawa South resident Harry Thomson.

Set up beside the familiar gauge that Thomson used to measure the water levels of the river, the bench has been installed as part of the City of Ottawa memorial park bench program. A bench is purchased and installed by the City, and the supply and installation costs are recovered from the donor. The specific location is determined by City staff in consultation with the donor. Tax receipts are available and you can find out more by contacting the City of Ottawa.
