The Archives of Ontario has collected and preserved many works by Anne Langton (1804–1896), artist and pioneer settler in Upper Canada, including this charming depiction of the area along the Rideau River by Billings Bridge.

Anne Langton was an English artist who specialized in landscapes and miniature portraiture. She settled in Canada in 1837, where she continued her artwork and also became known for her writings, including her journals published posthumously as A Gentlewoman in Upper Canada.
