  • Should we make OOS a model community for healthy aging?

Should we make OOS a model community for healthy aging?

Seniors Watch of Old Ottawa South believes that healthy aging, community involvement and economic regeneration are synergistic. We would like to demonstrate this by making Old Ottawa South a model age-friendly community as we rebuild from the pandemic. Our group of volunteers are working to identify needs as well as creative responses. We need to hear from everyone - seniors and others - who have an interest in making the neighbourhood an even better place in which to raise their families and grow old.  SAVE OUR FIREHALL

We’ve come a long way since March of last year.  The Firehall is now offering summer camps and activities and preparing for Fall programs: in person and online. All of us at OSCA (staff and volunteers) thank you for your support and generosity. Your pledges and contributions have surpassed $85,000.

This summer the majority of our summer camps are outdoors at Windsor Park. Safety remains our top priority and we continue to meet and even exceed Ottawa Public Health COVID-19 recommendations. Our staff to child ratio is 1 to 5. We look forward to seeing you again this summer and fall.

GivingTuesday is a global movement for giving and volunteering, taking place each year after Black Friday and Cyber Monday. The “opening day of the giving season,” is a time when charities, companies and individuals join together and rally for their favourite causes. In the same way that retailers take part in Black Friday, the giving community comes together for GivingTuesday.

Wine & Food for a Good Cause

Cameron Avenue east of Bank Street came alive with the sound of bagpipes this past Friday evening.  A wine pairing fundraising event was hosted by Linda Hancock (OSCA Past President) and her husband, Mazen Soubra.  About 60 guests were piped in by members of the Ottawa Caledonian Pipes & Drums group.  The bagpipes were a fitting tribute to Robertson House, Linda & Mazen’s home, which is 130 years old this year.  Robertson House is one of the heritage designated buildings in Old Ottawa South.
