    Winter Programs Delayed

Our winter programming is delayed until at least Thursday, January 27th 2022. All programs will be extended to the week ending on Friday, April 1st 2022. Our fitness centre and pottery studio are closed until further notice. When plans are set to reopen we will be contacting all program participants and members to inform them.

We, all of us at OSCA (staff and volunteers), want to thank Old Ottawa South once again for your generosity to the “Save Our Firehall” campaign. Your pledges and contributions have surpassed $110K. That’s a lot to be proud of! You have made it possible to keep our doors open.

To those of you who pledged your support on a monthly or recurring basis, thank you for your ongoing support. No amount is too small and every donation adds up. It’s a tremendous financial and moral "boost" as we strengthen our capacity to offer more programs and services.

Safety remains our top priority and we continue to meet and even exceed Ottawa Public Health COVID-19 recommendations. We look forward to seeing more of you.

OSCA Postpones The Start of Winter Programming

Given the exceptionally rapid spread of the Omicron COVID variant in Ottawa and Ontario, and the uncertainty with respect to how this will impact the risks we face locally in the delivery of recreational programming, OSCA has decided to postpone the start of its Winter programing for adults, youth and children from Monday, January 3 to Monday, January 17, 2022 as a safety measure to protect our clients and staff. As a result, winter programming will be extended for two weeks longer than normal and finish on Friday, April 1st, 2022.

For the first two weeks of January only the Fitness Centre will be open for use, with a limit of 2 persons at any one time who must social distance and follow all screening and other safety protocols.

OSCA Covid-19 Vaccination Policy for Employees and Clients

As promised in late August, OSCA has been hard at work developing the details of our vaccination policy. We remain committed to doing everything possible to provide a safe environment for you and your family. Please take the time to read the following text, outlining OSCA’s evolving vaccination policy.

COVID-19 Vaccination Policy

As we resume in-person activities at the Firehall, we're committed to doing everything possible to provide a safe environment. That is why OSCA is adopting a COVID-19 vaccination policy.

Starting this fall, all eligible program participants, staff, and volunteers at the Firehall will be required to be fully vaccinated against COVID-19. OSCA is still developing the details of our vaccination policy, but we want to share this important news right away.

If you aren't yet vaccinated, please get your shot today. And if you are vaccinated, you can feel confident in coming back to the Firehall and reconnecting (safely!) with friends and neighbours.

Winter 2021 Program Updates

We have updated our program line-up!

At OSCA, we’ve all been hard at work planning for a January programming lineup that focused on trying new things. As you know, this is our first Winter program schedule that’s been fully remote. We were already well into our Winter programs last year when things dramatically changed in March. We truly hope that you’ve had a chance to review our Winter Program Guide and skim through the things we have lined up. Registration is on-going and it is never too late to join!

Santa is on his way to Old Ottawa South!

Santa is on his way to Old Ottawa South!

Hello my friends in Old Ottawa South, it’s me Santa!

My pals at OSCA have been hard at work thinking of fun and festive ways to celebrate. We know it’s been a tricky year, and all of you have certainly earned a spot on my ‘extra nice’ list!

Community-Wide 2021 Programming Survey

We want to know what you need for onsite and virtual school aged children's programming in Winter 2021!

Since Covid restrictions have been in place the team at OSCA have been hard at work reinventing programming and the way we engage with the community. Now that we have reviewed our safety protocols and have had a successful Fall Session with Virtual Programming and a small group participating in our After 4 program on-site, we want to hear from you.

What kind of programming would you like OSCA to offer in the Winter?

If you have ideas or have seen some great programming, or you have a skill or talent that you'd like to turn into a program with OSCA, let us know!

So far we're planning some outdoor events, winter sports activities at Windsor Park, social-distancing groups, a walking group, more craft kits, front yard classes for you and your bubble, and more...

Follow this link to fill out the survey!

HalloweeK at the Firehall

Knowing that this Halloween was far from a traditional one, OSCA staff put together a whole bunch of Spooktacular activities. OSCA's HalloweeK featured lots of pre-recorded Halloween crafts, spooky front porch decorations at the Firehall, our very own pumpkin patch to entice the Great Pumpkin to visit Old Ottawa South, a Halloween decoration contest, and more. And from Thursday until Saturday evening, local resident and videographer Mark MacDonald created a spooky video display that is projected onto the large windows of the Michael Jenkin Hall.

We would like to thank all residents and participants for making HalloweeK such a spooktacular and ghoultastic success and invite you to check out some of the highlights below, including a video from CTV news featuring the Halloween projections at the Firehall!
