We believe that offering community programming is essential now more than ever. So do our instructors who overwhelmingly responded to our call to offer programming on a “pay what you can” basis. As such, 70% of fees received will go to instructors and the remaining fees will go to supporting OSCA programs and initiatives in the future. Main Street Renewal Project

Main Street Changes Narrowly Approved at Committee

The 'Complete Street' concept for Main Street in Old Ottawa East was considered at the July 5, 2013 Transportation Committee meeting. The recommended option of 'cycle tracks' for part of the street was approved but not without a long and rancourous debate of how commuters may be affected. Full council will vote on the project on July 17th.

Main Street Renewal Project

Main Street Renewal Project and McIlraith Bridge Rehabilitation Project

The City of Ottawa is undertaking the Functional, Preliminary and Detailed Design for the renewal of Main Street (from Echo Drive to the Rideau River) and portions of Lees Avenue (from Main Street to Chestnut Street) and Rideau River Drive (from Main Street to 130m South of Main Street). The proposed works include the introduction, rehabilitation and/or replacement of various components of the street infrastructure within the right-of-ways. The project designs will have regard for the streets’ various planned functions and the various community contexts along the project limits.  The project has developed alternatives, some of which include lane reductions to accommodate a cycling facility in the corridor.   As such, the project is being planned as a Schedule C project under the Municipal Class Environmental Assessment process.
