On Tuesday, November 24th 2020, an email was sent out to residents of Old Ottawa South, marking the official launch of the fundraising campaign to Save Our Firehall. We are very excited about how many people have already responded to our plea to Ring the Bell and Save Our Firehall and we hope we can keep the momentum going!
Dear Neighbours,
This December 1st is “Giving Tuesday.”
If you’re unfamiliar with “Giving Tuesday,” it’s a movement to “give” instead of buying or receiving. Which is why we want to take this opportunity to tell you about the dire situation our community centre faces – and how you can help give it a fighting chance against COVID-19.
We need your help to keep our community centre open. PLEASE DONATE TODAY
You see, our community centre is the same building that was once an old Ottawa Firehall. It has a storied history and has been an important part of our community since 1921 (nearly 100 years!). But due to COVID-19, our Firehall has been largely closed since March and now we face an incredible financial obstacle. That’s why we hope, from the bottom of our hearts that you take a brave and bold step to help The Old Ottawa South Community Association (OSCA) SAVE OUR FIREHALL.
Please understand, without your financial support, our beloved Firehall could shut down for good. And although we continue to reinvent ourselves by offering virtual programming and a small After 4 program, our revenue sources have practically vanished because of this global pandemic.
So, we ask you to be a hero of our community by pledging your monthly support. No amount is too small and every donation brings us closer to ensuring our community centre is still open in 2021. DONATE TODAY
There’s a certain kind of magic to monthly pledges. Because if a thousand families or individuals contribute $30/month for 12 months, we could easily raise enough to SAVE OUR FIREHALL – but that all depends on compassionate people like you rising to the occasion this holiday season.
Please consider a monthly gift this Giving Tuesday. And spread the word to your friends and family. We cannot think of a greater or nobler holiday gift than knowing that the centre where our community comes together will still be here next year.
DONATE TODAY and #RingTheBell.
Thank you for your time – and we at OSCA wish you and your loved ones a safe and happy holiday season.
