Walking is one form of exercise that is available to all of us, even during lockdowns. But walking can be difficult, even dangerous, during an Ottawa winter.
The Council on Aging (COA) in Ottawa has a reporting program called Snow Moles in which local residents describe walking conditions in their areas, especially after a snowfall. These reports ( COA Bi Weekly Report 2 Snow Moles) are sent bimonthly to the City. And right now the City of Ottawa is reviewing its current winter maintenance standards — making snow mole reports more vital than ever.
It is easy to fill in a report. You can do it online (coaottawa.ca/snowmoles) or even pick up a paper form in the mailbox right outside the main Firehall door. Let the City know which sidewalks in Old Ottawa South need more attention!
