With immense gratitude and excitement, I’d like to introduce myself as a new member of the OSCA team! You’ll see me around the Firehall this month getting settled into my new role so please don’t hesitate to introduce yourself. I look forward to hearing about how we can collaborate, share ideas and stories, or simply get to know one another. I’m joining OSCA after more than sixteen years with Dovercourt Recreation Association, where I developed a passion for community-building, a love of program planning, and a deep appreciation for collaborative work. Someone very smart once advised me to find other people who challenge, energize, and inspire me and then spend time with those people. So, I knew when I met the OSCA board and staff members that this would be a great fit.
I’m very thankful to the board members including Richard Slowikowski, Michael Jenkin, Sue Neill, and Joy Morrow as well as many others I’ve met and look forward to meeting, for making me feel so welcome. I’m also very appreciative of the time and effort that Matthew Mitchell spent in his last couple of weeks as Managing Director, to ensure a smooth transition. Having worked with Matthew in the past, I know he will be missed as such a positive and dedicated leader.
The start of a new year always brings with it a sense of hope and possibility and I am so excited for what 2024 will bring for OSCA. I believe in the strength of community and that anything is possible when people dedicate their time and energy to improving the lives of those around them. I look forward to valuable relationships with residents and local businesses, strengthened ties with the City of Ottawa and other partners, and ultimately serving the residents of Old Ottawa South with innovation, positivity, and fun.
Wishing you all a very Happy New Year,
OSCA Executive Director
