Hopewell Avenue Public School is gearing up for its much-anticipated annual “Anything on Wheels” consignment sale and fundraiser, set to take place on April 28, 2024 from 9 am to noon. If it’s anything like past years, this exciting event promises to celebrate community spirit, gear recycling, not to mention spring tune ups, all while supporting cycling education.
Our awesome consignment bike and summer gear sale is at the heart of the event, catering to summer enthusiasts of all ages. Whether you’re hunting for your next ride or seeking to clear out your garage, this is your chance to support our students at Hopewell Ave Public School! Sellers earn 70% of the sale or can generously donate their gently used gear to the school. Intake for gear drop-off is on April 27, from 1 pm to 5 pm. You can swing by the Hopewell Ave Public School Garage (17 Hopewell Ave) with your gear, set your price, and our dedicated parent volunteers will work their magic to sell it!
But the fun doesn’t stop there! Participants can also take advantage of basic bike tune-ups (e.g., brake tightening, chain greasing, etc.) provided by skilled technicians. For a minimum donation of $15, you can ensure your bike is in good condition for the upcoming riding season. Whether it’s a quick tire pump or a solid “get your bike safely on the road” tune-up, our experts will have you rolling smoothly in no time.
Once again, we’re partnering with the City of Ottawa’s Bicycle Education program and setting up an indoor Bike Rodeo for kids! This mini-course teaches our newest cyclists how to read essential bike safety signs and provides educational resources for those looking to brush up on their safety skills! Don’t forget to bring their helmets!
To add more excitement to the day (if that’s even possible), it’s spring clean-up time, and we’re looking for volunteers – all community members are invited to participate! The Hopewell Ave PS school yard committee will be bustling about, distributing piles of mulch, weeding gardens and tending our beautiful trees. Please bring your gardening gear (e.g., shovels, wheelbarrows, favourite tools of choice) and your mugs. Coffee, tea and snacks will be provided in exchange for your hard work!
To sweeten the deal – what’s a community event without delicious treats? Stop by the bake sale for a delectable assortment of homemade goodies. Indulge your sweet tooth while supporting a good cause – all proceeds from the bake sale will directly benefit Hopewell Avenue Public School’s educational programs and initiatives. If gardening isn’t your bag, we would love folks to donate nut-free baked goods to support this important event!
However you participate, your contribution directly supports Hopewell Avenue Public School. As a cornerstone of our community, the school relies on fundraisers like this to enhance educational opportunities for our students, as well as the OCDSB’s Education Foundation of Ottawa.
Please get in touch with Rebekka at rebekkawroy@gmail.com to participate. As a special incentive: bike sale volunteers will get 15 minutes at the end of intake or before the sale to get first dibs on cool summer gear!
So please mark your calendars and join us on Saturday, April 27 from 1 to 5 pm to drop off your gear to sell or on April 28, from 9 to noon to participate in these fun community initiatives. Whether you’re in the market for a new ride or simply looking to enjoy a morning out with the family, the “Anything on Wheels” consignment sale & fundraiser, and yard clean up at Hopewell Avenue Public School is an event you will want to attend. See you there!
