Spring is in the air, and that means it’s time for Hopewell Avenue Public School’s much-anticipated annual “Anything on Wheels” consignment sale and fundraiser! Mark your calendars for Sunday, May 4, from 10 am to 1 pm, and get ready to buy, sell, and support a great cause!
This event is the perfect opportunity for families to upgrade their wheels or clear out gently used gear from garages and basements. Whether you’re looking for a new bike, rollerblades, skateboards, scooters, or other summer sports gear (including gently used cleats, climbing gear, gloves, balls and more), this sale has something for everyone. Sellers keep 70% of the sale price, or they can choose to donate their items to support Hopewell Avenue Public School’s educational programs. It’s a win-win!
How to sell your gear
Drop-off for consignment items will take place on Saturday, May 3, from 2 pm to 5 pm at the Hopewell Avenue Public School Garage (17 Hopewell Ave). Bring your used but functional bikes and sports equipment, set your price, and let our dedicated parent volunteers handle the rest.
More than just a sale!
Beyond the fantastic finds on wheels, the event offers a chance to get your bike tuned up for the season. Skilled volunteers and our partners from Tall Tree Cycles will be on hand to perform minor tune-ups – brake tightening, chain greasing, and tire inflation – for a minimum donation of $15. A quick check-up can make all the difference for a smooth and safe ride this summer!
The City of Ottawa’s Bicycle Education program will host a fun and educational Bike Rodeo for our young riders. Kids will learn essential bike safety skills, including how to read road signs and navigate safely through intersections. Remember to bring helmets!
Lend a hand, and enjoy a treat!
Volunteers make this event a success, and we welcome community members to get involved. Whether helping at the sale, participating in the yard clean up, assisting with bike tune-ups, or donating nut-free baked goods for our always-popular bake sale, every contribution helps Hopewell Avenue Public School thrive. A gentle reminder that volunteers are not only treated to delicious snacks and generously donated Starbucks coffee throughout the event, BUT they also get to shop 15 minutes before the sale goes live!
As always, all proceeds from the sale and bake sale go directly toward supporting Hopewell field trips (including the Grade 6 Montreal trip), classrooms, activities, and valuable school initiatives.
So, gather your gear, tell your friends, and join us on May 4 for a morning of community fun, great deals, and support for local education. We can’t wait to see you there!
