On July 15, 2026, Ottawa City Council carried a motion to move forward with a pilot of its ‘School Streets’ initiative for the upcoming school year. This will close off streets outside of three Ottawa elementary schools during pick-up and drop-off times, including at Hopewell Public School.
Hopewell Avenue between Grosvenor Avenue and Bank Street will close at peak times this fall as part of the School Streets initiative with EnviroCentre Ottawa.
The pilot project aims to improve safety and encourage active transportation choices to and from the school. EnviroCentre will coordinate and operate the program.
