Windsor Park Cleanup Spring 2017

Holy Cow! Can you believe it? This was the 20th time we met over a coffee and compost bags to give our parks (Windsor Park plus Linda Thom Park) a "Spring Spruce Up." Along with the usual mayhem from the dog salad, Pete, Brian, Gary, Linda, and Mike lead the interested to rake up, pick up, clean up, and chop down as appropriate. We lucked out with a warm sunny day after a rather soggy previous week.

The riverbank, paths, fields, and play areas all the way from Bank to Main Street are looking positively fab. We estimate over 20 showed up to collect 60+ bags of garbage and compost. Numerous piles of cut trees and brush were left along the river from end-to-end.  Best of all was the chance to catch up over a bag, a coffee or lemonade, to welcome spring and the season ahead. Thanks to all for your spirit, and for taking real ownership of our park.  It shows in so many ways...

Thanks to the City of Ottawa for providing Shawn O’Neill, who worked with Gary in trimming invasive species along the path.  Thanks very much to WAG Cafe & Pet Lounge and Global Pet foods for their community support with fresh ground coffee & treats for the mutts. Thanks to the two boys who supplied the fantastic fresh lemonade! And finally, a shout out to one of your neighbours who who purchased the Tim Bits to keep the humans fuelled.
