GivingTuesday is a global movement for giving and volunteering, taking place each year after Black Friday and Cyber Monday. The “opening day of the giving season,” is a time when charities, companies and individuals join together and rally for their favourite causes. In the same way that retailers take part in Black Friday, the giving community comes together for GivingTuesday.

This year, OSCA is very excited to participate in GivingTuesday and we launched a modest fundraising campaign for our annual After-Four Turkey Dinner and to replace the Firehall’s aging kitchen range.

For the After-Four Turkey Dinner to be a success, Katherine Boisvert, our Preschool and Child Program Coordinator, and her team need access to a working stove and oven. After a decade of continued service, the Firehall range is no longer up to the task. Buying a new range will, of course, not only benefit the Turkey Dinner, but also the daily After-Four snack making and baking activities, as well as the many programs and camps that make use of the kitchen.

So, when you are checking out the myriad Black Friday and Cyber Monday deals, and perhaps even looking for new appliances for you own home, we ask you to take a quick moment and make a donation to the OSCA Community Fund, which would allow us to make sure the Turkey Dinner for our After-Four children is another rousing success!
