For older children in our Breakfast Club and After-Four programs, we have been meeting on Zoom twice a week (Mondays and Thursdays) and giving them and us an opportunity to hang out (virtually of course) with their friends from Firehall.
On top of the children’s friendly faces, we are also fortunate to have some of our staff popping in for a visit. Reconnecting with the children and seeing their happy faces is energizing and reminds us how resilient the children are.
During this hangout, we are also running mini-games to keep the children engaged and certainly welcome any parents who wish to participate as. The children have adapted to the Zoom hangout well and have suggested games for our future visits. The children are being respectful of others and are using this platform in an appropriate manner. Many parents have used this time to have a bit of a break while their child visits with friends in a safe way.
We are continually adding fun new activities that can be done from people’s living rooms. Be sure to follow us on Facebook and Instagram to stay connected during our time apart. We will continue to challenge ourselves to utilize the tools available and continue to evolve to make this physical separation easier for all.
