The closure of the Firehall has had a huge impact on all of us and like many, we are all missing the connections that our community space provides. As you have probably seen in the news, the City of Ottawa has announced that all recreation facilities will be closed until at least June 30th, 2020, and this includes the Firehall. One of the consequences of the closure is that we also do not have access to our phone line to answer questions and provide assistance.
We have managed to retrieve the OSCA cell phone from the Firehall and for the duration of the Firehall closure, OSCA will be offering a daytime phone number where you can reach us. You can reach us if you are having trouble finding the right resources within OSCA or elsewhere and we will do our best to point you in the right direction. We are also there if you simply want to chat with someone.
You can phone weekdays from 10am-4pm and Katherine Boisvert, one of OSCA’s program coordinators, will be happy to help as much as possible. Katherine, like most of us, is working from home and it is possible that on some days her work and/or family obligations prevent her from answering the phone immediately. We will check messages on a regular basis and make sure that we respond to calls as soon as we can. You can also send us a text message, and Katherine will try to respond to those in a timely manner as well.
Things that we cannot offer through this new phone service include counselling services, health related advice or information, emergency services, etc., but we will do our best in helping you find the right resources if you are having trouble finding them.
The number to call is 613 277 4976.
As always, if you feel more comfortable emailing us, or you have any questions about specific OSCA services and/or programs, you can always reach us at email@example.com.
