Beginning August 14th, Reaching Seniors In Old Ottawa South (RSOOS) will be implementing a new program: ‘Coffee Conversations’. These will be held bi-weekly on Friday afternoons from 2:30pm to 3:30pm.
Following the success of our Tuesday Interactive Speaker Series, we have decided to extend our series to create a casual space for people to 'drop-in' and connect with their community on Friday afternoon.
The purpose of these Friday conversations is to create a space for older adults of the Ottawa community to openly discuss topics of their choosing amongst each other; strengthen relationships between our participants; make new friends and have another fun activity to look forward to each week.
We will not have planned guest speakers, or ask our participants to pre-register each week. The aim for this series is to be very casual, participants can drop in at their convenience and speak about topics that matter to them, give advice on problems people may all be commonly facing, and just have a casual conversation while we continue to be observing physical distancing.
This does not replace our ‘Seniors in Conversation’ on Tuesday mornings!
We encourage you to invite your friends, family or anyone you know who may be interested in this program! We welcome all returning and new participants. Donna will be the host at each conversation and she will organize the call and offer conversation starters as needed.
For technical support please contact Connected Canadians. Connected Canadians is a free technical training and support. If you need help with Zoom or other tools, or want to learn more about how to use technology to connect to virtual programs like online support groups, learning events, and social programs, call 613-699-7896 or sign up for help at www.connectedcanadians.ca/programs or call outside of the Ottawa area, 1-877-304-5813 (toll free).
The dates for our new Friday Coffee Conversations will be on August 14, August 28, and September 11, 2020. After the conversation on September 11, participants will be surveyed for their feedback!
