Ottawa Songwriters Uplifting the Mayfair (OSUM) — Saturday and Sunday, May 15 and 16, 2021 on YouTube (free) and on Zoom (ticketed). Two events of music, a silent auction, and more to raise funds for Mayfair Theatre.

Join OSUM (pronounced AWESOME!) on Sat. May 15 at 7:00 PM and Sun. May 16 at 2:00 PM for an “awesome” and engaging musical event organized to help the beloved Mayfair Theatre pay the rent during these challenging times.

The Mayfair Theatre, located on Bank Street at Sunnyside in Old Ottawa South, has long been a favourite destination for movie fans of all kinds. The Covid-19 pandemic has forced the theatre to close on multiple occasions and now the music community has banded together to help the Mayfair raise much needed funds in order to keep the lights on and the projector running. Lee Demarbre, programmer at the Mayfair Theatre, is himself a filmmaker and passionate film enthusiast. “I am delighted to have the support of the music community to help us keep the Mayfair going during these tough Covid times,” he says.

The two-concert series features an “OSUM” lineup of local singer-songwriters representing a variety of musical genres. Each concert will present two parallel performance streams featuring a terrific lineup that includes:

Catriona Sturton, Tony Turner, Karen Oxorn, John Carroll, Danielle Allard, John Allaire, Diane Nalini, Ray Harris, Jack Pine, Arthur McGregor, Christine Graves, Don Bray, Chris MacLean, Pat Moore, Shawn Tavenier and Greg Kelly... plus more performers to be announced!

The music kicks off Saturday night, May 15th at 7:00 PM and continues on Sunday afternoon, May 16th at 2:00 PM. In addition to a fabulous weekend of music, the event features lots of fun add-on activities such as an online silent auction featuring movie posters and other one-of-a-kind items; pre- and post-concert “meet-and-greet” sessions; and interactive audience games with fabulous prizes to be won! There will also be a “Film Quips” segments with Mayfair programmer Lee Demarbre and a demonstration of Syncspace, the game-changing platform that lets musicians rehearse and perform together live from different locations.

There are two options for viewing the concerts. You can buy a sliding-scale ticket and watch the concerts in the same Zoom session as the hosts and performers, or you can watch the concerts for free on YouTube (with an option to donate). Either way, the Mayfair Theatre appreciates your support to help pay the rent!

This OSUM event is produced by Folkzone, Greg Kelly, and Ottawa Songwriters.
