Print Email

We welcome you to the 2022-2023 session of our Breakfast Club and/or After Four programs.  Please read the information below and let us know if you have any questions.

Program Locations for After Four and Breakfast Club

Breakfast Club Location:

Ottawa South Community Centre (260 Sunnyside Avenue)

Drop off for the Breakfast Club program is at 260 Sunnyside Avenue.  Our doors open at 7:30am each day and breakfast is served between 7:30am and 8:30am.  Our transition from program to walkover begins at 8:45am.

After Four Locations:

JK/SK: Southminster Church (15 Aymer Avenue)

We are excited to announce that we are now renting the bright newly renovated space at Southminster Church for our Kindergarten After Four program. Due to the growing number of children in our After Four program, we require additional space to accommodate them. A couple of the bonuses of this new space include proximity to the library and greenspace for outdoor play.

Grades 1-6: Ottawa South Community Centre (260 Sunnyside Avenue)

We are happy to have the children back at the Old Firehall for another fun-filled year.  We provide a walkover for all ages from Hopewell School.  If you wish for your child to walk from Hopewell to our program on their own, please contact us by email to make arrangements.

COVID Protocols

At the moment, children are required to wear masks indoors but will not require them for outdoor play. Children must be symptom-free for 24 hours with a negative COVID test before attending any Firehall programs. We will keep you updated on any policy changes.

OSCA requires notification if your child will not be in attendance in our After Four program.

Please give us a call at 613-247-4946 or send an email to info@oldottawasouth.ca before 3 pm on the day of the program if your child will not be attending.

We ask that parents please remember to report absences since failure to do so keeps our walkover groups waiting in all types of weather at the school for confirmation and delays the children's arrival at the community centre.

It is not necessary to report Breakfast Club absences since children are dropped off each morning by a parent.  If however, your child will be away for an extended period of time, please let us know.

We are pleased to continue with our electronic sign-in procedure.  It is not always obvious to participants that we are using mobile devices for our attendance.

This method allows all staff to see when a child has been checked in or out and provides a time stamp. We have been using this method for over a year now and it is a very effective tool-we do have hardcopy backup attendance lists just in case.

Children are required to be signed out by parents or guardians at pickup time.  Staff will check the child out before releasing them to the parent using a computer or mobile device.

Please notify OSCA of any changes regarding pickup.  You can also add people to your account that are able to pick up your child.

Please note that we may ask for identification so we ask that anyone picking up brings a form of ID.

In the morning for Breakfast Club, the children will be dropped off with their class or grade. Kindergartners are checked in with the teacher(s) and older children will only be left in their yard if a teacher is on duty.

For the After Four program, children will meet the OSCA staff at the side doors of Hopewell School on Sunnyside Avenue. Kindergartners will be released to the staff by their teacher.

We have been in contact with Hopewell School and they have a list of all children attending our A4 and BC programs Parents do not need to notify the school that their child is part of OSCA's After Four or Breakfast Club programs.

If your child requires bussing in the morning or afternoon, a drop-off time and location must be arranged with both the school and OSCA.

Please note that we are aware that it may take time to change the kindergarten drop-off to Southminster.

We provide healthy options for breakfast food each morning.  Children can choose from a variety of items such as cereal, oatmeal, fruit, and yogurt.  On Fridays, a special hot breakfast option will be available.

Each day a snack is provided for all of our After Four participants.  Please be sure to inform us if your child has any dietary needs or allergies we should be aware of.
