NRC Aging in Place – Expert by Experience (EBE) Project Advisor Recruitment

Print Email

Older adults across the country agree that they want to keep living in their own homes for as long as possible—safely and injury free.

In 2020, the Government of Canada announced the new Aging in Place Challenge Program led by the National Research Council of Canada. Researchers from the NRC are partnering with like-minded private, public, academic and other research organizations to develop technological breakthroughs to help older adults and their caregivers to live in their homes and communities of choice.
The aim is to increase by 20% the number of older adults who are living in homes and communities of their choice by 2031.
Technological projects vary in topic from energy harvesting systems for remote real-time health condition monitoring to physical therapy in the home for hip replacement to fall detection. Additional project opportunities will be emerging in the coming months.
Currently, there are Expert by Experience (EBE) Project Advisor positions open. What is an EBE Project Advisor?
  • Project EBEs will be matched with a scientist, or project team from the Aging in Place program, and work closely with them during their research.
  • You will meet with your project team virtually (or in person as protocol allows) approximately every 6 months (or as discussed with the project team).
Older adults or caregivers interested in being a Project Advisor EBE are invited to submit their interest or email heather.mcneil@nrc-cnrc.gc.ca.
