The Ottawa Tennis and Lawn Bowling Club (OTLBC), a fixture in Ottawa South for nearly a century, plans to restore its historic clubhouse. On November 30, 2018, about 80 people gathered at Trinity Anglican Church, just down the street from the OTLBC, to launch a targeted fundraising campaign. Founded in 1881, the OTLBC built the three-season clubhouse in 1923, when it moved to its current location on Cameron Avenue adjacent to Brewer Park.
The Ottawa Grassroots Festival (OGF) is pleased to confirm that multi-award winning folk rockers, Digging Roots, will headline Saturday night (April 27) at the festival in Old Ottawa South. The event happens April 25-28, 2019 at Southminster United Church, 15 Aylmer Avenue, Ottawa. First Nations power couple, ShoShona and Raven, are the creative team and inspiration behind Digging Roots. In creating music they utilize the traditional Anishinabek Song Lines composition technique of tracing melody and rhythm from the contours of the land. This traditional method of creating songs is paired with modern Eurocentric techniques of composition.

In February 2019 area churches, including Sunnyside Wesleyan, Southminster United, Trinity Anglican, and St. Margaret Mary Catholic, will join together to host a series of four parenting workshops led by respected registered occupational therapist Denise De Laat and her partner Dr. Phil Ritchie, a psychologist. Both have served the community through the school system, at CHEO, and in private practice. The free sessions will be held on Tuesdays (Feb 5, 12, 19, and 26, 2019) from 7-8:30 pm will focus on the Collaborative Problem Solving Method (CPS) and are open to parents and guardians of children and youth in Old Ottawa South.
