Now more than ever do we get to witness the strength and resilience of our community. Residents are stepping up in all kinds of ways to make sure we get through this challenging time together as a community. But this is nothing new of course; our community is full of everyday heroes! With our AGM coming up, OSCA wants to honour some of these volunteers and is seeking nominations from the community for the first-ever Community Builder Award!
As a result of the recent announcement that City facilities will be closed and following the recommendations made by the City of Ottawa, Ottawa Public Health, and Federal government agencies, we have made the difficult choice to cancel all OSCA programming; this includes the Firehall Fitness Centre, the Pottery Studio, Board and Committee public meetings.
The OSCAR and The Glebe Report community newspapers will be acquiring six newspaper boxes to make the papers jointly available in our communities. The boxes will be placed along Bank Street between the Queensway and the Rideau River. Local artists will be commissioned to decorate the boxes. We welcome submissions from all artists including Old Ottawa South and Glebe students in high school or University.
We are excited to announce that we will soon be partnering with Amilia — a Canadian online registration software provider — to replace our current registration system.
Did you have a chance to read OSCA President Richard Slowikowski's report in the March OSCAR? It's full of interesting information about some recent and upcoming changes at OSCA, so we reproduced it here:
OSCA is looking for Weight Room Attendants and Personal Trainers for its Firehall Fitness Centre!
Registration for all of our Spring Programs in now OPEN!
The safety, health, and well-being of our clients and staff is a top priority at OSCA. Clients with a sinus infection, cough, and/or fever are asked to refrain from attending programs in order to prevent the spread of colds and flu to others. We ask clients to be diligent in following Ottawa Public Health’s “Guidelines for School and Child Care Facilities on Communicable Diseases and Other Childhood Health Issues” document, which provides recommendations for exclusion due to health issues.
After another beautiful and successful Winter Art Show & Sale at the Firehall, we are getting ready to start accepting pieces for the Spring Art Show & Sale!
