LEGO CAD: Virtual LEGO Building

Ages 8-12
(Pay what you can)
Join the LEGO® guy, Ian Dudley of Orange STEM Education, for online classes that will introduce you to virtual LEGO building using the LEGO Digital Designer (LDD) application. You will learn the basics of the program: how to create and save building instructions, how to select, connect and rotate pieces, and how to change colours. Ian will lead you in a succession of projects including mosaics, other 2D projects,  3D structures and Technic building. It is not necessary to have LEGO at home for this course, but students who do will be encouraged to build their own simple project and recreate it using LDD.  All your projects will be saved on your computer for future use. Other tools available for LEGO CAD will be discussed, as well as how to purchase individual LEGO pieces if you want to build your online creations. Once you have discovered the advantages of online LEGO design, you will be able to create more advanced virtual creations at home and share them with your friends. See a sample LDD project by clicking here. What you need for the course: 1) Laptop or Desktop computer at home to run LEGO Digital Designer and connect to Zoom. 2) Download and install LEGO Digital Designer prior to the first class. More information will be provided upon registration. 3) LEGO if you have it, but not required. Space is limited to 10.
