Our winter is long and snowy. Are you concerned about winter walking? Snow and ice can lead to difficulties getting where you want to go, especially for seniors, young school children, parents with strollers and toddlers, and people with mobility challenges. Falling and injuring yourself is a real concern. Some seniors become isolated when getting out is too difficult and miss opportunities to socialize with friends and family members. An overview of walkability in OOS in the 2019-2020 season can be found pdf at this link (opens PDF). (2.85 MB)
A walking group can be socially and physically rewarding. The Firehall offers a walking opportunity on Tuesday mornings at 10, or you could start one of your own. Please note: walking groups are cancelled during the COVID-19 pandemic.
SWOOS stays connected with the Traffic Committee of OSCA and with our Councillor’s office. Many older residents rely on public transport. Let us know if you have concerns.
