Old Ottawa South residents will be relieved to learn that the Post Office located in the Quickie Convenience Store will remain where it is, at least for the foreseeable future. OSCA has received a letter to this effect from Canada Post, which is reproduced below. All this means that there is no threat to an essential public service in the neighbourhood, though it is also reassuring to note that Canada Post already had contingency plans in place to retain a postal outlet across the street.
The sale of the former St. Margaret Mary Church at 7 Fairbairn Avenue is now official. The Muslim Council of Ontario became the new owners on July 20, 2023. The property will be known as “Sunnyside Mosque and Community Centre, Ottawa South” or “Jamia Masjid Farooq-e-Azam.”
For the opening concert of Music at Trinity’s 2023/2024 concert series, we will celebrate the splendid instrument that the renowned organ builder Casavant Frères installed in Trinity Anglican Church and was dedicated in 1963. The concert series resumes on September 23rd at 4 pm and a freewill offering grants admission to the event which will be performed by the Music Director Fabien Tousignant.
Come one, come all – bargains galore! Sales happening throughout the neighbourhood.
We are thrilled to announce this year’s Company of Adventurers production, William Shakespeare’s zany comedy Love’s Labour’s Lost! The King of Navarre and his three buddies have sworn an oath to avoid the company of women for three years while they devote themselves to their studies. But who expected the Princess of France to arrive with her three ladies in waiting? Chaos ensues as the lords struggle to preserve their “little academe” while each of the four succumbs to the charms of the visitors. They do their best to maintain their studious life. The women are forced to sleep outdoors rather than be allowed inside the King of Navarre’s court. An insult! Yet the women get their own back!
