The City of Ottawa has placed containers of salt and grit at key places in the neighbourhood. If you notice a slippery or icy spot on the sidewalk, feel free to spread it around as needed.
You are invited to join the first Inter-Communal Snow Mole audit on February 2, 2023. The Old Ottawa East, Glebe, and Old Ottawa South walk will reach the Sunnyside Library at about 11.10am, continue down Bank Street towards the The Old Firehall Ottawa South Community Centre, for a finishing stretch down Willard Street (steep).
Joining the western side of Brewer Park to the Carleton University campus is a well-used footbridge tucked alongside the Rideau River. The construction material is quintessentially Canadian: the railings are made of wooden hockey sticks! The commemorative plaque, somewhat worn and graffiti-ed, installed on the bridge reads:
The City of Ottawa has once again converted the outside curb lanes on the Bank Street Bridge for more space, safety, and active transportation. Reconfiguration of Bank Street Bridge Public Consultation Permanent changes are also coming to the bridge, moving from a 4-lane model to a 3-lane model. The display boards showing the proposed changes have been uploaded to the project webpage.
Would you like to provide feedback on the proposed redesign of the Bank Street Bridge? Councillor Shawn Menard is looking for your input on changes for the bridge. The deadline to take the survey is August 7, 2020.
Capital Ward Councillor Shawn Menard has proposed a redesign of the Bank Street Canal Bridge: three vehicle lanes, two northbound and one southbound, with two widened pathways on either side, thereby improving safety for pedestrians and cyclists.
