Speeding & Dangerous Driving Enforcement

Print Email

Are you concerned about the increase of speeding and dangerous driving in and around the neighbourhood? The Traffic & Safety Committee reached out to our local Community Police Officer and she pledged to put in a word for increased enforcement. But did you know that OPS primarily respond to data-driven enforcement?

From our Community Officer: "To officially get our traffic enforcement officers to attend those areas, I would need to justify my request with reports from the community, that there is a problem, and thus a need for them to attend. As we are "intelligence-led", we rely on the reports to determine where to put our resources. So I would encourage you and the community of Old Ottawa South to call police or make reports online for traffic complaints. I have listed OPS contact information below for reports/police attendance."

  • 9-1-1 - Crime in progress/Life Threatening Emergency
  • 613-236-1222 ext 7502 - Non-emergency but require patrol presence
  • 613-236-1222 ext 7300 - Reports to be taken over the phone
  • www.ottawapolice.ca - online reports

So if you are concerned about increased speeding and dangerous driving, make sure you report instances you witness, either online or by phone using the 7300 extension.
